Dominion Valley Garden Club
Blue Star Memorial Garden
Purpose
Each month, a group of 3 ladies will care for the Blue Star Garden. There will be a “ Chairperson” for each month who will be the organizer. The “ Chair “ needs to contact the ladies assigned for the month and arrange the weeks that each will tend the garden. The garden should be tended 2 to 3 times a week to be sure the it is always looking its best. Please copy me in all your communication, that way I can be sure of the continued care.
You are only obligated to care for the garden approximately 10 days of the month you’ve been assigned. If you are away that month, please make a trade with someone else during a month you are available. When you have made a trade, please let your Chairperson and me know of the trade. This is important that we know of the switch.
The Blue Star care includes pulling weeds, watering, deadheading, trimming, and the disposal of the garden waste. Please bring a bag to collect the debris and remove from the Train Station. It should be fertilized once a month. Also, we have two boxwoods and a rhododendron by one of the sheds that requires a small amount of maintenance.
Contract the Current Chairperson if you have questions. We receive many complements on the garden, it’s an important community project and we should take pride in it.
Thank you all for your time and attention to our Blue Star Garden!
